BIOGRAPHY
"Nackman dishes electric-fired gems."
- BBC Music, London
In music, there's a Louis Armstrong quote that goes "musicians don't retire, they stop when there's no more music in them." Such is the absolute truth for songwriter, producer, and artist Alex Nackman, whose 20 years of musical travels, triumphs, fits, starts, peaks, and valleys have all contributed to defining the idea of persistence in an ever changing industry and musical landscape.

With six albums, hundreds of tour dates, and dozens of songs placed throughout television, adverts, and film, Alex Nackman has found a way to see through the fog and have others see him, as he has run the proverbial "career-gamut" as a musician, producer, composer, and artist.
He has had the privilege of opening for Norah Jones, The Roots, Zac Brown Band, Teitur, and Buddy Guy to name a handful. He has headlined venerable rooms such as The Troubadour in Los Angeles, ShowBox SoDo in Seattle, Cafe Du Nord in San Francisco, 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville, and The Borderline in London, among others.

As a writer and composer, Alex has written music and placed songs with HBO, NBC, CBS Sports, Lexus, AMC, Pokemon, Bravo, Showtime, Hyundai, Coca-Cola, Cadillac, and the BBC, among others.

After the unexpected death of his drummer, confidant, and close friend, Chris Williams (also from the Pat McGee Band), which occurred in 2006, Alex began taking less time on the road and more time in his Brooklyn recording studio, preferring to write, experiment, and master the studio environment. Nackman has worked with indie and major artists from Sony, Universal, BMG, Nettwerk/Kobalt, and Warner on production and album projects ranging from pop to alternative to rock to folk to Hollywood scores and more--- a writer with a full spectrum of creative input to offer with an expansive and ever-growing musical palette.

Drawing influence from the nostalgic sounds of 80's British New Wave and 90's American Alternative music, Alex Nackman's personal sound is reminiscent of The Cure, U2, Depeche Mode, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Oasis, and many others. His musical style hearkens back to the dreamy and pensive sounds of the past while reinventing the energy and impact of current alternative and indie rock sonic qualities.
Alex Nackman is a songwriter and artist that strives to move forward. His music has been built for a career with longevity and relevance for years to come--- with songs that have lasting impact. Named an MTV Buzzworthy Artist, an Apple iTunes Indie Spotlight Artist, and lauded by the BBC in London for his "electric fired gems," he has garnered the eyes and ears of those who look for artists and songwriters with a slow strong burn.

Alex Nackman grew up in Sleepy Hollow, NY first playing the violin as a child and later as a member of the prestigious Westchester Youth Symphony, before gradually moving towards guitar and piano as a teenager and through college. It only grew from there as open-mics and regional coffee house gigs progressed quickly toward high-profile venues like Stubb's in Austin, TX, Exit/In in Nashville, The Roxy in L.A., The Barfly in London, UK, Paradise Rock Club in Boston, and the Bowery Ballroom in New York to name several.
He currently lives in Brooklyn, NY with his wife, Paola. He produces, writes, composes for TV/Film, and mixes music from his home and studio.
